Alhamdulillah, I managed to listen to the the complete usrah by Dr Mokhammad Yahya on his tadabbur about Surah Yunus,ayah 57.
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wahai umat manusia! Sesungguhnya telah datang kepada kamu Al-Quran yang menjadi nasihat pengajaran dari Tuhan kamu, dan yang menjadi penawar bagi penyakit-penyakit batin yang ada di dalam dada kamu, dan juga menjadi hidayah petunjuk untuk keselamatan, serta membawa rahmat bagi orang-orang yang beriman.
O mankind! There has certainly come to you advise from your Lord, and a cure for what is in the breasts, and a guidance and mercy for the faithful. (Yunus 10:57)
I was in the second year of my remission in 2015 when the first time someone told me about this ayah. The effects from the intensive chemotherapy and 33 times of radiotherapy were real - horribly real. To some extent, I thought I would prefer to be on drugs instead.
Among the Malay Muslim, this is also known as among the best ayat syifa' which is good to be put in practice. I must admit, I didn't religiously recite the ayah, but I believe in the power of du'a and Allah's words.
Ok, fast forward - last Sunday, DrMY decided to share his tadabbur of this ayah. It was a three-hour session, which I end up with a wow! I hunger for more. I wish DrMY didn't stop talking and explaining. But, I was tired too. It was too much to digest.
What Quran Is To Us?
Generally, there are two groups of people - one perceived the Quran as a source of knowledge, another perceived Quran as a healer.
In this ayah, using ism (noun) to describe the Quran, it is not tied to anytime, it's evergreen. And obviously, in this ayah clearly stated as Quran being the combination of all - source of knowledge and a healer to guide us for His Mercy. In the end, that is the only thing that matters.
Science is taught in such a way where there is cause there'll be an effect, and vice versa. It needs proof and shreds of evidence.
Where is the science in the Quran?
Taking surah Yasiin for a better understanding -
In the surah, it narrates the story of villagers that rejected the 3 rasuls & 1 young villager to accept Islam. (36:13 - 36:30). This is history, social science, which talks about the past for ys to reflect and learn from the past mistakes.
It also states about current day-to-day lives. It talks about the physical science such as the trees & fruits for human survivals (36:33-35), about things in pair (36:36), about the sun & moon and how it moves in the orbits (36:37-40), about the ship and transportation (36:41-43). These facts shared in the Quran 1400 years ago is science!
It also tells about the future, the akhirah. It describes the time when it's qiyamah, the heaven and the hell.

Salient Points of Yunus 10:57
The ayah starts with the kalimah يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ. Ya Ayyuha(n) Naas
It's a powerful phrase of calling. The kalimah Ya-Ayyu-Ha is when Allah is calling all human, though physically far apart, always be near batinniahnya.. (The words of wisdom, the kinder and polite way when you want to call for someone and asked them to do something)
The translation didn't explicitly mention that the Al-Quran, however, the whole ayat does mentioned about what Al-Quran is for.
The word جَاءَ is being used instead of أتى to intensify the act of the word "come" ("datang").. it came to you for real..bukan main-main, bukan saja-saja.. with purposes.
What's in the Quran?
- مَوْعِظَةٌ : reminders (advises)
- شِفَاءٌ : healers
- هُدًى : guidances
- وَرَحْمَةٌ : His Mercy (blessings)
and all those are the path towards the blessing life being a Mukmin, insan kamil (perfect being)
To note: the kalimah used in this ayah is al-sadr الصُّدُورِ (the chest) which referring to the chest, rather than the kalimah al-fu'ad (the first layer of the heart) or al-lub (the core of the heart) which being interpret as the Quran covers everything about the heart.
Perfecting Oneself With The Quran
If you were to relate all those facts given in the Quran, it will make you ponder and think - strengthened your beliefs and faiths, a spiritual cleansing, the science of psychology.
Yes, it may not explain the theory, the findings, and all the way how scientists are practicing it because it is a book of knowledge - the source that will trigger anyone to think and learn more.
Islam is all about faith and knowledge. For those physically unexplainable, the ghoib, is something that we have to believe that Allah is the AlMighty and All Knowing.

Relating the Quran and perfecting ourself, the views shared are on how the benefits of Quran is to be utilize to build the better us.
Seeking and adhering to the advises (مَوْعِظَةٌ) from Quran and using it as a healer (شِفَاءٌ: physically and spiritually), one will go through the process 'Takhalli' (تخلي) which relates to aqidah / belief and akhlak / attitude.
As both are gained, we'll go through the process of 'Tahalli' ( تحََلّيِ ) which helps in beautifying ourself with stronger aqidah and greater akhlaq. This is achieved with the Quran being the guidance (هُدًى) as an instruction.
Insyaallah, with the permission of Allah, as the Takhalli and Tahalli being achieved, we hope to reach the stage of Tajalli ( تجََلّيِ ), where we are blessed with Allah's blessings. Amiin.
Therefore, Al-Quran came to us, to perfect ourselves. Surah Yunus, ayah 57 (10:57) explains it all. Al-Quran is the light that guide us for the perfect us, Insan Kamil. May we don't miss the opportunity and lose the light just because we don't search for it.
