Functions of the Heart

Knowing the purpose of heart is to know things, it's nothing weird should the 'real' desire of the heart is knowledge. This has been instilled upon each heart to no surprise.  Heart is equipped with conscience that know which is right and wrong, and conscience would consciously guide a person to making certain decision.  A toddler who has accidentally touched a hot kettle, would know the kettle is hot and would be more careful should he sees any kettle, be it hot or not. The nature of the heart is to accepts knowledge, understands matter and able to distinguish good and evil.  Hence, a heart is filled with desire for knowledge, through thoughts and reflections. Yup, the heart is to think through things and reflects on the knowledge received. Having knowledge and thoughts without reflecting upon it will be under utilising the function of heart. Purpose of the Heart

MashaAllah, TabarakAllah I just completed reading the book titled "The Commentary on Ibn Taymiyyah's Essay on the Heart by Dr Bilal Philips" and I just love it. I just have to share it here! I bought the copy from Dakwah Bookstore and I wasn't expecting that it took me so long to finish reading it for I was soaked with every lines and sentences and did reflect each of them of my own pace.  If any of the readers are looking for the brief manual of the purpose of heart, this is just perfect enough for you to start with.  The opening paragraph telling readers that the purpose of human heart is to know things says it all. I'm not sure whether the medical terms for heart is referring to ...

Embracing the Quran: A Spiritual Journey of Guidance and Reflection

Counting blessings is an Islamic principle often emphasized publicly. Allah states in Surah an-Nahl: وَإِن تَعُدُّواْ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحۡصُوهَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ If you try to count Allah’s favors, you will not be a...
